Everything wraps up with academics in the form of multiple projects and state testing. Ballet is all about learning the dance for show, tailoring dance costumes, and attending many dress rehearsals. Orchestra wraps up with a finale concert in May, as well as my hosting of my end of the school year piano recital. Field trips and school celebrations and award banquets round out our calendar.
But the bonus to starting all of the above was receiving the conclusion to my daughter's ballet exams. Last night we were able to sit one on one with her ballet instructor to go over her exam results.
Scored over a number of different topics, she found that she was hitting high marks in each category as the conversation continued. The areas where she was marked down were well explained, and my daughter is aware of her new goals for next year.
The final score is a number (0-100), a word category (Honours, Highly Commended, Commended, etc), and a ribbon color (purple, red, blue, etc) which are all associated to the level achieved in scoring. I will adhere to the school's strict "confidentiality" of student scores - but I can excitedly say that my daughter scored her personal best this year.
She was beaming that her number was higher than previous years, but with room to continue to make higher scores in the years to come. A personal best is always something to celebrate - as that is really what it is all about.
Sweet Girl - You did it!! I am so excited that you were able to dig deep and work hard all year to achieve a personal best. Keep setting your goals and reaching forward. Loving you simply because you are you!!!
