Cupcake Kids, Part I

Today has been spent prepping for our Cupcake Kids Sale tomorrow morning. We are kicking off the National Campaign a week early, and we have our sights set on going big!!

My kiddos are teaming up with two other families, and all three families are busy today prepping and getting organized. It has been a very rewarding and energetic day!

It started off with a donation from the Party, Etc store in our small town. I had gone in to buy white tablecloths and some balloons to create a festive flair to the cupcake tables. I had two balloon bouquets picked out when the nice employee happened to ask me if it was for a birthday party. That opened the door for me to explain the mission of The Cupcake Kids.

My son and I chatted with her until the bouquet was done - she added the extra longevity to the balloons so I could get them today, rather than having to go back out in the morning.
When she was finished she said that she was going to donate the bouquet for us. Wow! The owner's son was coming back from an African Mission Trip with World Vision - and throughout his journey had been communicating with her. She said her eyes had been opened and she wanted to help. She sounded pretty confident that she'd swing by to buy some cupcakes tomorrow too.
That was a pretty neat gesture for my son to witness. He was all smiles walking out with the bouquets.

The rest of the afternoon has been spent baking and frosting cupcakes. Click on photos to view closer detail.
My girl wrote a cute text message and sent it to her local friends:
My son was a big help getting the cupcakes ready to frost:
The kids did a fantastic job!! I just love their creativity and solid stick-to-it-attitude. In a little over two hours, they had frosted all 91 cupcakes ... and they are still friends!!! (haha).
We have more non-baking prep to do this evening, but are taking a break for now. We are praying for good weather, and a lot to show up to support The Cupcake Kids and SixtyFeet.org!!

Love your taking the picture up high. Were you on a ladder? The colors are fantastic. Good luck with your sale tomorrow. Are you having it at a grocery store in town?
