What kids say

My quick witted son was in preschool when this story took place. My parents were staying with our children at our house while my husband and I enjoyed a night out. My mom always has creative things for the four of them to do together on these play dates (I never like the term babysitting when it involves the Grandparents). Endless amounts of unique things; one of the kid's favorites being an old simple tape recorder that they would load up with drama. My parent's are highly creative, high stamina Grandparents, and my children love-it!!

So on this particular night, after an evening of fun and drama, my mom had tucked the children into bed. My daughter stayed in her room, cd music played lightly in the background, she was sleeping soundly like a sweet little girl. My son, on the other hand, would open his door, bounce down the stairs in search of asking his "Mono" (my mom) a question. Then he'd go back upstairs and close his door. Soon after, he would stomp back down the stairs for another question, and another, and another. There was no sign in his eyes that the tired factor might be right around the corner.

Finally, my mom suggested to him that it might be a good idea if he was in his bed and asleep by the time his parents came home. He looked her square in the eye, and said,
"It's okay, Mono ... I'm nocturnal."

I guess my parent's high stamina is a necessity.
