My husband has always been a year-round sports fan from football to basketball to baseball. And he was a team player for many different sports growing up all the way through his twenties; baseball and soccer were his seasonal favorites to play. Our dating years included sporting events, whether it was me cheering for him on a team, or going on dates to professional sporting events. And now that we have children, they are right along side us, cheering with enthusiasm.
Every year my husband purchases tickets to the local Major League Baseball team to have one on one time with each of our children. Starting with her first game at three, my daughter learned how to score the game with tally marks, and now older can score the game with the official symbols on the diamond graphic on the scorecard.
Recently, she picked up the tripod and camera and had fun documenting her day. She has a good eye and patience; four of these photos she snapped on a summer date with her dad (the above self-portrait being one of them).
One day she may find that sports might be all about the cute guys, but her seeds are planted that it is more about loving the sport because of the connection and the memories that you make with a loved one.
