This year's theme for the pumpkin patch corn maze we visit every year was
Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and what a great job of perfecting the theme. Not only did we kinda feel like we had been shrunk when we walked through corn on any given year; as one can't really see anything but the corn! But then the farm added to the theme with a flying lawn mower, and a giant ant (that actually moved, eww), and a giant chair, and a clothes line of really big clothes. Not to mention a Rick Moranis pumpkin head scarecrow! (I couldn't get the lawn mower to fit inside the lens - bummer).

We actually followed the corn maze map. Let me clarify.
My Husband actually followed the corn maze map, while other years we tried and quickly gave up. This year he did a fantastic job and we cruised through the field in 44 minutes. Compared to 90 minutes-plus for years prior. We think we might try something new every year. Create a new challenge. See if we can beat the prior years time (and have my husband continue the map reading). Within the corn maze there are six mailboxes that have a hole punch inside. The purpose of the maze is to get all six punches on your map and then when you exit, you get a prize (this year was a neat lollipop with a noise maker attached to it).

Pumpkins were picked. Hay bails were purchased. Hot dogs and hot chocolate too. Oh, and Converse Boot wearing that got rave reviews from strangers. Oh, Yaaa! (hahaha).

We made it home just in time to change and head over to the school to watch the school play featuring my daughters BFF. What a fantastic, natural actress. We knew it beforehand she had drama within her from seeing her fun, bubbly personality that shines every day, but to see it channeled to a lead role solidifies that this girl could be going some where big. My daughter asked for her friend's autograph after the show which was half a joke and half serious. But the best part ... was the absolutely genuine hugest hug the girls shared. My girl is so proud of her friend.
A great ending to a great day.

What a fun day - outdoors at the corn maze & pumpkin patch and then the school play.
I'd never be able to go inside the corn maze as it would freak me out to be lost in there and feel closed in. To be inside it for 45 minutes would undo me.
Boy, it must have really gotten cold there from the winter boots, hats and jackets.
Enjoy the rest of your weekend.
i like the chair. that was cute. Nice to see you are getting some use of your cute new boots. I Guess its been cold in a few places. it was easily in the mid to upper 60's today, which is nothing to complain about.. have you guys having good weather still? Guess it doesn't matter, as it doesnt predict what the next week will be... weather these days is so crazy.
Tina + Natalie ~ The weather has been so amazing since May!! However, it was cloudy today and not over 55, which compared to the mid to upper 60's we've been having, it seemed cold. Now, not cold enough for the snow boots ~ but that was all that would fit on my kids' feet. Turned out the maze was not muddy like years past, so they could have worn their tennis shoes. Rain is expected to arrive and stay on Tuesday. Looks like our nice weather is over. Sigh.
I need to get my kids to the pumpkin patch this year! We usually get pumpkins from my brother-in-law's family farm, so we never bother to go the local pumpkin patch anymore, but I forget about the corn maze. The kids are all at the right age to enjoy it now.
Oh, how I'd LOVE to have a pumpkin patch to visit! Yours sounds so neat!
Wish I could see a video of her friend... So I had caught a glimpse of her before she's someone "big"! How lovely to read about your daughter's sheer pride for her.
