Our day + weekend

The kids did not have school today, after all it has been a month and one week since we started school, we are bound for a three day weekend, right? So instead of learning math and writing, they spent the day helping me clean the house and do some cooking chores. They were in a willing mood; it completely worked today. We are having our friends over tonight for a much needed get together. Three families total will provide us one dozen in our house. It is bound to be a good evening.

My husband will be barbecuing his famous Flank Steaks which have been marinating in his creation of soy sauce, sugar, and garlic. When I ate meat, this was my favorite by far. It is so juicy and oh so good! We will also be serving cheese lasagna for those non-red-meat-eaters (me, my son, and perhaps all the children). Some veggies and homemade Parmesan Bread will round out the meal before we delve into cookies for the kids and key lime pie for the adult desserts. Yum! Looking forward to getting started.

Tomorrow we have plans for the pumpkin patch. We trek out a ways to the country to enjoy a fantastic corn maze, pumpkin sling shot game, and pumpkins and gourds and hay bails and corn stalks. We are looking forward to our annual tradition tomorrow morning. The afternoon will bring us back to school where my daughter's best friend was cast the lead in the school play. The PTSA hired a traveling theater company that goes to schools to direct a play in one week. They've done this in the past and it is amazing what the theater company can get the students to accomplish in one week. We are excited for tomorrow's big production.

Sunday will round out the weekend with a football game attendance for my husband, and a party planning date for my daughter with her two cousins at my parent's house, which leaves some mischief possibilities for my son and I to get into alone while the other two are out of the house.

High hopes for a greatly packed October weekend!
