It seems like we have had back-to-back holiday fun and cheer since ringing in December and I love it!
This evening we met my best friend from college and her family for dinner at this fantastic family friendly (but not so family friendly like Red Robin, just enough family friendly that you don't have to worry about kids talking too loud or moving around too much, with decor and atmosphere more in line for adults) Italian Restaurant.
Once dinner was finished, we bundled ourselves up in hats, gloves, scarves and winter coats to go outside on the block to see Snowflake Lane. The cities block upon block is lined with festive joy as a Marching Band and dancers and character's in costume dance their way into a sidewalk performance. There is a light show display on all the buildings and very loud Christmas music blasting through speakers. Spectators dance, kids laugh, every one becomes friends with the stranger beside them. And, the best part, SNOW falls from above. Not fake paper snow, but bubbles that are created to look just-like-the-real-white-stuff! It is so authentic and every one loves it because in our neck of the country, when it snows, it is worth talking about, because it is not something we can count on every winter. I guess if this city were to be transplanted to the Mid West it would not be "that great" of a show, but here, it is "the thing" to do with children.
It really kicks up the holiday spirit and I am so glad that we were able to enjoy and spend an evening with our friends. We had a wonderful night together.
Merry Christmas, D~J~S~E!!!
