Sitting in the front row balcony section made this concert come alive. We could see the trumpets, the oboe, the percussion unit, the saxophones, everyone in the band was in full view.
My son and my mom were hooked on the percussionists, while my daughter, hoping to play the clarinet one day, enjoyed seeing the beautiful black instruments in the front row. I had my eye on the keyboardist, my dad probably took in everything as he has played the most musical instrument selections out of all of us, and my husband; he just had fun being together.
We enjoyed an afternoon at the local performing arts center to listen to the sounds of the Army National Guard Band and a local vocal troop. A wide selection of holiday music was performed, with an audience sing-along mixed in. It was festive and fun.
We then went back to my parent's house where we enjoyed an evening full of great conversation over a homemade Waffle feast. We also had a puppy training session with their now 6 month old dog, Splash. He has learned so much in a short amount of time. I am very impressed and the kids are all-over the hands-on training program that my parents are so nice to share. Splash gets the real pay off with all the attention and treats. He is such a happy dog.
It was a good day to celebrate the season and I'm glad that we could spend it with my parents.
