What a beautiful day we had to hunt and cut down our Christmas Tree! It was cold, but gorgeous. We trekked not far to a new tree farm this year and found a very nice Turkish Fir. I enjoy the simplicity and sleek lines of this tree.
These pictures need no explanation:
I was sooo happy that my son was tall enough and strong enough to help carry the tree with Daddy. I no longer need to worry about that treacherous job. Something about walking a tree through stumps and uneven ground, not being able to see the ground, and worried about breaking the top of the tree always has been my least favorite part of the U-Cut experience. My son was thrilled to take over! I got to carry the saw and the camera. Nice.
And then it was all about the decorating! We decided that this year we would put the tree in our family room, as opposed to our living room. While I like the look and feel of others seeing our tree from the street and entry, we miss out on the daily viewing because we rarely go into the living room. It is separated enough from the rest of the house where one could not see the tree unless you specifically entered.
So, enough of that! We moved it to the family room. We love it! The ambiance of the room with just the Christmas lights on throughout is so peaceful - but the camera without flash makes it look more dark and somber than reality. It really is not that dark. (and my son was not staring down Cora, he was actually signing and dancing with her - Ha!Ha!).
This is a cute photo of my girl at the edge of her seat as the two state rival college football teams were playing. In the end, her/our team pulled a victory!
We always end the Christmas Tree day adventure with a feast of Cheese Fondue for dinner. We gather on a tablecloth picnic style on our family room floor to watch The Polar Express on theater loud volume. LOVE, LOVe, LOve, Love, love our tradition!!!!
Ohhhhh, Christmas Tree! What a perfect day!

You 4 should be the ones enjoying the tree and not the people driving by. Good decision to put it in your family room. It is a lovely tree.
We bought the Polar Express to watch with the kids this year. Funny, but, not remembering about your tradition, just randomly, I had planned we would watch it after we put up the tree. But, then my sisters came over and we got distracted making cookies...still need to watch it! Maybe once I finally get lights on our tree (it's sat bare 2 days now ;)) we will watch it...
Was thinking about that myself the other night - the lonely, beautiful Christmas tree in the living room - while we all sat watching a movie in the family room. Might have to reconsider tree placement for next year!
Knitknerd: You must reconsider. We LOVE it so much more this year - so festive and warm. =)
Your tree looks so beautiful and so happy to hear we're rooting for the same team:) Love all the tree hunt pictures...seems like we were just posting pumpkin pictures....wow this fall has gone fast!
