Cupcake Wars!

Ever get excited for another person that you just feel like coming out of your skin? The build-up and anticipation is just so huge, and then you see the person you are thinking about and rooting for pull off a huge success? And then you feel like screaming and doing the silly Happy Dance in their honor? That was and still is me in regards to my cousin's daughter, Kyra, who was featured as a contestant on Food Network's Cupcake Wars season premiere last night.

Kyra was our candlelighter at our wedding seventeen years ago. She had a true sparkling personality with eyes that shown bright when she talked and a smile that radiated the room. Those same qualities hold true for her today. The editing and director presented her accurately. Not to mention that the outfit she chose to wear was perfect!! She looked fantastic and presented herself brilliantly as she competed with her Gluten Free cupcake products. For those wishing to view online or watch their dvr of the show, I will not spoil the ending here, but will add it under Comments.

This morning my husband is presenting a marketing campaign for the Fortune 500 company where he is employed. With out giving away much information, the campaign design and prep has been a year-long process with the kickoff being today.

Ironically for our family, part of the kick-off will include a spin-off/similarity of a Food Network show where my son is baking a specific cookie for the marketing campaign. The color and design of the cookie is the main point - so when you see these blue cookies with three buttons, it makes complete sense for the campaign.
My son taped the video in October - which is not shown on the internet due to the exclusivity that my husband had to sign for his company to use it within the company's internal web service only (seriously, the legal team was on top of their game from the start. Funny actually.). But, imagine my son making and frosting the marketing campaign's cookies to the likes of his other episodes that are shown on the external web. The internal web episode of my son's cooking show for these blue cookies will be featured today at the kickoff unveiling and party.
This weekend my son made three dozen cookie pairs. Early this morning I frosted the pairs for my husband to take to the kickoff campaign party. It took me thirty minutes to frost 36 pairs of cookies - I don't know how Kyra possibly made it work to the level of competition that she was in, under the stress of limited time that she had, to pull off such success!! She is a true professional. We are just having silly fun. I am sure that is the difference.
Still beating with excitement for Kyra while wishing my husband best of luck to his kickoff campaign!!

Kyra was the strongest player throughout the episode receiving the highest and most frequent kudos during the different rounds of competition. She made it to the final round where she went head to head with a baker from New York. While Kyra was not deemed the final winner, she truly shown bright and was full of success throughout her experience. So proud of her determination and personal success.
