A few weeks ago, my daughter received an invitation to her Middle School's end of the year Awards Ceremony. From friends that have older children who have gone before us, we knew what an honor it was to receive an invitation. The night planned for the students and their guests would be filled with fun and celebration. We were disappointed when we learned it was in conflict with my daughter's dress rehearsal for the dance studio.
Taking the prior commitment and dedication to dance, she knew that she could not attend the ceremony. Although she let her team of teachers know of the conflict and her absence in attendance, she let it go and didn't fret over missing it last night.
What a sweet and unexpected celebration she received when we pulled up to the school drop off this morning. Two of her friends had just entered the courtyard area from the other direction, and seeing our red car barely pull up to a stop, they came rushing towards my daughter's car door. Soon, additional friends were swarming my girl as she exited with her humongous backpack, and equally heavy math book in tow.
While I may be used to one screaming and over talkative and enthusiastic daughter, I was not used to hearing a handful of screaming, high pitched, excited girls all talking at once. Each were so excited to share the news of my daughter's awards that were announced last night. My daughter was beaming, I of course, was happy that she received "some sort" of fanfare for all her hard work ~ and what better way than a group of neat friends.
It was priceless and I wish I had a video camera ready.
My girl came home sporting a trophy for All A's for the year, and a Social Studies Student of the Year award. She is purposefully covering up her school name, her name, and each award title in this particular picture (because yes, she knew it would be put on my blog).
Yay! to my sweet girl for being a focused and hard working tween, who has plenty of sweet friends to make life full of celebrations.

What a shame that it was the same night but good that she takes her ballet so seriously and is dedicated. Congrats to her.
Looking forward to seeing pictures from the ballet performance.
Congrats to your daughter and to the proud parents!!!!
