We bought a newly constructed house in 2003. Back then the trend in selling new houses was to do so without a completed back yard. This is a view of what we looked at when we first moved in. A sloping hillside of rocks, weeds the size of bushes, dirt, and did I mention
rocks? Our property line blended well with the woods behind us. A rock retaining wall was in place to maintain the hillside and that was it. No grass, no beauty beds, nothing in the backyard.

My husband, being a fantastic gardener by hobby, looked at the backyard as we were falling in love with the house and rather than seeing it as a setback, he viewed it as his own personal canvas. He was inspired by the challenge to create.

After many hours of design on his computer to get the right look, time at nurseries and book stores in education, he created a truly wonderful oasis for our family and friends to enjoy. I love our backyard. More so because my husband did every square inch by hand; hiring out nothing. Truly impressive in my book. Thank goodness he saw the potential and we did not walk away from this home that we truly enjoy.
